The combat of the Koreas
The war consisted of Trench warfare just like in world war one, only now there were hills. Now in the beginning of the war the North Koreans completely destroyed the South Koreans because of North Koreas tanks or the lack of the South Koreans anti-tank weapons, or South Koreas untrained army didn’t help things either. Most battles in the Korean War dragged on and took days if not weeks for the them to get over. Both sides set up barred wire and build mini forts out of sandbags to protect themselves from outside gun fire and barrages by North Korean artillery. This was the first war to really utilize tactical radio. The war also was the first one to start using this “New” Technology, helicopters. The U.S was the first realize usefulness of all of these new technologies. The Korean War was the Seed to modern warfare to a lot of historians. Most of tactics used during Korean War were to break up already existing enemy lines on both sides they were using any strategy to break the enemy lines these included airstrikes , attacking at night and a popular tactics used by Chinese is that they would just send wave after wave to put down the American defensive line. The air warfare in Korean war was interesting to say the least because it was such a major victory for the Americans. The Planes ratio was SK/NK 10/1 so just in a numbers game that had no chance. Most of the planes were from the allies of South Korea. North Korean planes were only from North Korea so this would explain why number might look so bad. A couple of other things what didn’t help was that U.N planes were far superior to North Koreans planes. The U.N pilots were far more trained a lot of them , some were world war 2 veterans. The Korean war tactics are very unique and make It stand out compared to other wars.
